Frequently Asked Questions
Plant Based Cheese
What is plant based cheese?
Plant based cheese is an entirely dairy-free, nut-based product that evokes the flavors you would find in dairy cheese. At Spirit and Abundance this means carefully crafting each wheel using traditional dairy cheesemaking techniques modified to suit the multitude of delicious plants we have in our kitchen.
How long does the cheese last?
12-14 days in the fridge, 3 months in the freezer
How can I cook with your cheeses?
Mac and cheese, pasta bakes, cheesecakes, grilled cheese, salads, and more! Basically anything you can do with dairy cheese.
Does your cheese melt?
Slightly. We highly recommend mixing any of our cheeses with a non-dairy milk of your choice if you’d like to make any kind of sauce or anything that requires even cheese coverage
Do you sell firm cheeses?
All of our cheeses are aged for at most 14 days before packaging, the resulting cheese is on the softer side. You are more than welcome to continue to age any of our cheeses by placing them on a plate in the fridge uncovered for another week or so. We are currently working on our own line of long aged cheeses.
Where can I find your cheese outside of your website?
Lori’s Natural Foods, Henrietta
Redbird Market, Fairport
Grassfed Vegan Butcher, Monroe Ave Rochester
Living Roots (specific menu items only), University Ave Rochester
Crisp Rochester (specific menu items only), Clinton Ave Rochester
